MacPro With Touch Bar Prohibited at Bar Exam


The following is the actual notice released by the Committee of Bar Examiners:

The Committee of Bar Examiners has been advised that the MacBook Pro laptop with Touch Bar contains certain embedded features that makes it problematic for use during the upcoming February 2017 administration of the CBX.  As a result, applicants will NOT be allowed to use the MacBook Pro laptop with Touch Bar during the February 2017 CBX.

The Committee of Bar Examiners has been advised that the MacBook Pro laptop with Touch Bar contains certain embedded features that makes it problematic for use during the upcoming February 2017 administration of the CBX.  As a result, applicants will NOT be allowed to use the MacBook Pro laptop with Touch Bar during the February 2017 CBX.

If you had planned on using a MacBook Pro laptop with Touch Bar and have already registered the machine with ExamSoft, you will need to do the following:

1.    Secure a different laptop for use.

2.    Contact ExamSoft’s Support Line at 866-429-8889 so that one of their technicians can process a re-download request.  ExamSoft will waive the re-download fee for those who registered on the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and need to re-download on a different machine.

Examination staff and proctors will be instructed to monitor for any applicant that attempts to use the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar during the upcoming examination. Applicants found to be using this particular laptop computer will be issued a Chapter 6 Notice, they will receive a score(s) of zero for that session of the examination and they will not be allowed to continue taking the examination.
